Much was expected of Canada at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Jamaica. Cam Fowler Jersey .The young Canadian soccer team had performed well on a pre-tournament tour of Europe, returning home unbeaten against quality opposition. The squad had never lost two games in a row.And while coach Rob Gales team was denied two of its top weapons — midfielders Dylan Carreiro of Dundee and Fraser Aird of Glasgow Rangers — when their Scottish teams refused to release them for the tournament, there was good depth. Teenage striker Cyle Larin went No. 1 in the MLS SuperDraft during the tournament. Ten players on the roster were on the books of Canadian MLS clubs, with several having already made their first-team debut.Gale had faith in his squad, having worked with many of them for the last three years. But he knew that not many had played much competitive soccer in the leadup to the CONCACAF event. And five games in 12 days would be a big ask in the heat, humidity and uneven pitch in Montego Bay.Plus Canada had not taken part in the world under-20 championship since it hosted the event in 2007, exiting without scoring a goal or registering a point. And rival teams were making strides in CONCACAF, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean.Despite a good start, the tournament quickly went south. The Canadians were eliminated from contention Monday when they lost 2-1 to Cuba and Honduras beat Haiti 3-2.All our kind of worst fears about what potentially could happen or affect the players have come to fruition, unfortunately ... Its been a poor display of who we are as a group, said Gale.Where these boys have been fantastic in the past in tournament football, for any number of reasons and the boys are struggling themselves to put their finger on it, this week, at this moment of time, they didnt have the energy and the resolve and that character to get themselves out of moments of a game that would turn the course, he added.Canada opened on a positive note, downing Haiti 3-1. A 2-0 loss to two-time defending champion Mexico was perhaps not unexpected.A 3-2 loss to El Salvador on a stoppage-time goal was a dagger through the heart. Then the bottom fell out with the loss to Cuba, with Canada conceding the opening goal on a flubbed clearance. When Honduras beat Haiti later that day, Canadas dream of reaching the U20 World Cup were shot.Canada (1-4-0) wrapped up play Thursday with a 3-2 loss to Honduras.Panama and Mexico topped their groups to reach the final and automatically qualify for FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand this summer. The second- and third-place teams in each pool will play off to see which two teams join them. For Gale and his staff, its time to review and reconsider. Their job is long-term development and this tournament, however painful, has been a learning step for their young players. The good news for Gale is that his players responded in the second half of games. For Gale, Thursdays finale outing was about sheer effort and pride, that has been lacking in some individuals and also as a collective, at times, when the going got tough in the conditions, the heat and everything else.Obviously theyre down and theyre disappointed that they havent represented themselves as they would have wanted. But youre as good as your next game and in football you have to get back on the horse. And if they want to make a career out of it, theyre going to have many many difficult moments and its how you respond.Gale was encouraged by the opening win over Haiti. He knew the margin of victory could have been more had his group retained its focus but he saw it as a lesson learned.Mexico was next, the toughest game on the schedule. The Mexicans were well-rested after a 9-1 romp over Cuba.We refreshed the pack but unfortunately a couple of players had just tough tough days at the office, said Gale. To be fair to the boys, they dug in again. The second half we were much much better.Down 1-0, they had chances to tie it up but were punished on a late counter-attack.Mentally, the team was in good spirits going into the El Salvador game. There had been positives against Mexico. But extreme heat took its toll on a Canadian team inexperienced at this level and in the conditions. Watching from the sidelines, Gale could see his team stray from its game plan just minutes into the contest. It becomes not about football then, its about digging in — the heart and desire to work you way through it.Down 1-0 and 2-1, the Canadians rallied to tie the game, only to fall victim to a 94th-minute goal off a set kick.It was just a mental lapse, said Gale. Very disappointing ... But with a young group of players, that happens in football.Against Cuba, an unfortunate individual error led to a fifth-minute goal and the Canadians were behind the eight-ball again.Down 2-0 at the half, the Canadians cut the lead to 2-1 and had chances to score while the Cubans played a delaying game that descended into farce. The stretcher comes on seven times, Gale said with disgust.Unfortunately thats the reality of CONCACAF, he added. Any time you give a team oxygen or life, where theyre ahead, they can wind it down and it can cost you.Under that extra pressure, players started second-guessing themselves, said Gale.Finding the character and heart when the going got tough just deserted us here. And thats tournament football. It can happen. This is the first cycle of players Gale has had since under-16. Now the plan is to grow a squad from the under-14 level.Jamaica is a valuable, if painful, lesson. Theres no immediate and short-term fix, said Gale. The young Canadians are talented but lack experience under pressure, the coach says.Missing Aird and Carreiro, his longtime captain, did not help.If there was one thing that we needed a little more of at this tournament, it was character, said Gale.He notes with frustration that Carreiro had not played a minute at Dundee during the tournament.I think thats disgraceful for a coach to hold a player back from international football and the experience and to not play him at all.Aird played sparingly at his club during the tournament.Still, Gale says there are no excuses for what happened in Jamaica. We havent performed and adapted as well as other countries in key moments of key games. And thats been the difference.Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter Antoine Vermette Jersey . Zac Dalpe had the other goal for Vancouver (24-13-9), which picked up its first win of 2014. Alex Pietrangelo replied for St. Louis (31-8-5), which saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end. Brian Elliott made 20 saves in taking the loss as the Blues failed to pick up at least a point on the road for the first time in nine games. Santorelli snapped a 1-1 tie at 5:56 of the third following a demotion to the fourth line earlier in the game. After Vancouver forward Dale Weise drove hard to the net, the puck popped out to Garrison in the high slot and his shot through traffic was deflected in by Santorelli for his 10th goal of the season. Santorelli has been one of head coach John Tortorellas favourite players this season, but he was taken off the top line with the Sedin twins in the first period on Friday. Lack then made a huge pad stop on Blues captain David Backes midway through the third to keep Vancouver ahead. The Swedish netminder has started eight of the last nine games in place of injured Vancouver No. 1 goalie Roberto Luongo. Vancouver has given up six goals when teams pull their goalie this season, but a late power play that killed valuable time helped the Canucks snap an 0-2-3 run after going 10-1-2 in December. The Canucks currently hold down the first wildcard spot in the Western Conference, while the Blues still sit second in the conference and first in the Central Division. After St. Louis carried most of the play in the first period, the Canucks scored just 91 seconds into the second when Dalpe tipped home his second of the season shortly after taking Santorellis spot on Vancouvers first line. Daniel Sedin swung a pass from behind the net to Henrik Sedin, who fired a low shot from the sideboards that was going wide before Dalpe, usually a fourth-liner, deflected it past a surprised Elliot moments after Lack stopped Blues forward Jaden Schwartz on a 3-on-1. Dalpe and the Sedins were caught on an icing call later in the period, leading to the Blues tying goal. On the ensuing faceoff, St. Louis controlled the puck and JJay Bouwmeester fed Pietrangelo, his defence partner and fellow Canadian Olympian, who wired a shot top corner past Lack for his seventh of the campaign. Hampus Lindholm Jersey. Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko accented the play by letting Bouwmeesters pass go between his legs at the blue-line right to Pietrangelo. St. Louis third-ranked power play didnt even register a shot on the games first man advantage against the Canucks penalty kill, which sits tops in the league. Vancouver then got a power play of its own, with Elliott having to be sharp on defenceman Yannick Webers one-timer from the point. The Blues then caught the Canucks on a bad change, but Lack snagged St. Louis forward Chris Stewarts effort on a partial breakaway. The Blues were playing their second game in as many night after thumping the Flames 5-0 in Calgary on Thursday but had far more energy in the first period. In a sign of things to come, Stewart had two shots off the rush three minutes in that Lack handled as the Blues jumped out of the gate quickly, outshooting the Canucks 8-1 in the games first 10 minutes. Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis got his teams second shot of the period with eight minutes to go as Elliott -- back between the pipes for the Blues after Jaroslav Halaks shutout on Thursday -- was rarely threatened. Schwartz had the two best chances of the first, but Lack was there to shut the door as St. Louis held a 12-5 shot advantage heading to the locker-rooms. Notes: The Canucks defeated the Blues 3-2 in overtime on Oct. 25 in St. Louis. Ryan Kesler had two goals in that one, including the winner. CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are headed toward the All-Star break on a high note. Johnthan Banks Jersey . So is Anthony Bennett, the much-maligned No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. As the Cavaliers avenged a 44-point loss to Sacramento with a 109-99 win over the Kings on Tuesday night, Bennett had 19 points and 10 rebounds -- both career highs -- in Clevelands third straight win. "Youre starting to see a little bit of what we see in practice and the reason why we drafted him," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "Hes a talented young man and hes starting to come to life a little bit. Hes even better than what you saw tonight." Former general manager Chris Grant, who was fired last week, was roundly criticized for taking Bennett with the first pick in June, but the rookie from UNLV has made major strides after being a non-factor until mid-January. "Anthony Bennett kicked our butt," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Im sure Chris Grant is smiling at home -- and deservedly so -- because that was his No. 1 pick." Bennett was smiling, too. Asked when the last time he had fun playing basketball he said, "I dont remember, but today was one of those days." Bennett hit two 3-pointers in a little over a minute in the second quarter and scored 11 points in the first half. His 3-pointer with 4:40 left in the game gave Cleveland a 100-85 advantage. Bennett was aggressive going to the basket -- going to the line nine times. Bennett had shoulder surgery before the draft and didnt play in the summer league. He adjusted slowly once the season began, and his minutes were limited when he played. That has changed. "It feels great," Bennett said. "All the hard work Ive put in with the players and coaching staff is paying off." Brown began giving him playing time last month after he showed progress in practice. "Its not anything that all of a sudden happened overnight," Brown said. "Hes a good basketball player. He can pass it. He can shoot it. He can run the floor. He can finish in traffic. He can rebound." Luol Deng led the Cavaliers with 22 points, and Dion Waiters added 20. The Cavaliers, beaten 124-80 in Sacramento on Jan. 12, took a double-figure lead early in the second quarter and were in control the remainder of the game. Cleveland has won three in a row for the second time this season. Cleveland also won three straight from Dec. 7-13. The Cavaliers will go for a season-high, four-game winning streak in their final game before the All-Star break on Wednesday at Detroit. Cleveland has won all three games since Grant was fired. DeMarcus Cousins scored 21 points to lead the Kings, who have lost 10 of 12 and seven straight on the road. The Cavaliers built a 67-49 lead in the third quarter. The Kings cut their deficit to seven points early in the fourth, but Cleveland went on a 7-0 run, sparked by Kyrie Irvings 3-pointer, to go ahead 91-77. Irving, who was 3 of 14 with seven points in the first meeting, had 13 points and six assists. The Cavaliers broke a three-game losing streak against the Kings. Cousins, taking advantage of a matchup with Cleveland centre Tyler Zeller, had 11 points and six rebounds in the first quarter. The Cavaliers played without starting centre Anderson Varejao, who missed the game with a sore back. Cousins didnt score again in the half. The Cavaliers used a combination of Zeller, Tristan Thompson and Henry Sims in an attempt to neutralize Cousins, who was averaging 22.7 points going into the game. The 6-foot-11 centre attempted only two more shots the rest of the game and was 11 of 16 from the foul line. "The effort wasnt there," Cousins said. "It was just bad overall. I dont really have an answer, but whatever it is, it needs to be fixed. After the All-Star break, well start fresh, which is what we need right now." Tristan Thompson had 16 points and 13 points for the Cavaliers. Isaiah Thomas scored 16 points, and Rudy Gay added 14 for the Kings. Sacramento has dropped the first three games of a four-game trip that ends Wednesday against New York. The Kings are 6-19 on the road. C.J. Miles (sore right foot) also missed the game for Cleveland. NOTES: Asked to describe Varejaos injury, Brown said, "With Andy, its his back and really his whole body that is sore, so it will be good to get him some rest, but obviously, you hope that its not a long-term thing." ... Varejao wont travel to Detroit ... Malone spent five seasons as an assistant under Brown with the Cavaliers from 2005-10. ... Thomas and Kings F Jason Thompson each picked up two fouls in the first quarter. Thompson committed his third foul 34 seconds into the third quarter and was scoreless for the game. Quintin Demps Jersey . - Justin Turner is at his best with runners in scoring position, and he delivered again in a big spot for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Christian Jones Jersey . If it doesnt work out, his new gig is looking more promising all the time. The Champions Tour rookie shot a 6-under 64 on Thursday in the first round of the Senior Players Championship, making seven birdies against one bogey to join David Frost and Doug Garwood atop the leaderboard at defenceless Fox Chapel. Bernhard Langer, Corey Pavin, Larry Mize, Steve Pate, Olin Browne, Bart Bryant, Peter Fowler and Wes Short Jr. shot 65. Colin Montgomerie, the Senior PGA winner last month, opened with a 5-under 30 on the front nine before fading to a 69. The 50-year-old Durant, a four-time winner on the main tour, is trying to split time between both circuits this summer. The pressure to earn enough money while making limited PGA Tour starts has been draining. In a way, the 50-and-over tour is allowing him to recharge. "Im trying so hard to make magic happen in one week (on the PGA Tour) and its just not working out very well," Durant said. Durant tied for 31st last week in Connecticut in the PGA Tours Travelers Championship, a finish he believes should have been higher had he not slogged through the second and third rounds. "It easily could have been a top-10 week if I had just managed my game a little better Friday and Saturday," Durant said. There were no such issues Thursday. Durant holed out from the greenside bunker on the par-3 third, kick-starting his round. He ended it with a sliding left-to-right birdie putt on the par-5 18th for his 64, matching his best round since joining the Champions Tour after turning 50 in April. "It all comes down to making putts," Durant said. "If you make putts, the game is real easy. If youre burning edges, its not that easy." Frost and Garwood quickly joined Durant atop the leaderboard. Frustrated after a middling 39th-place finish at the Encompass Championship last week in Illinois, Frost ditched the shafts on his irons for the first time in four years, trading them in for something that offered a little more forgiveness. The move paid off with a near flawless roound in which he missed only one fairway and three greens. Tommy Joseph Jersey. "I almost want to kick myself for not (switching shafts) earlier," Frost said. Garwood, a two-time All-American during his college career at Fresno State, has finally found a home on the Champions Tour after spending most of his adult life on pro golfs fringe. He never played in a PGA Tour event and sold insurance among other things before trying to give the 50-and-over circuit a shot last spring. After some initial struggles, it is paying off handsomely. Garwood lost a playoff four weeks ago in the Principal Charity Classic and backed it up with a runner-up finish last weekend. Garwoods round included three straight birdies on Nos. 12-14, including a 35-footer on the par-4 14th. His birdie attempt on the 18th stopped one roll short of giving him the lead. Being near the lead is becoming familiar territory for Garwood, though he has done his best to downplay his steady rise. "Ive always believed the lower the expectation, the easier it is to meet," he said, laughing. "Theres enough pressure just being out there with all the hoopla. So I just go out and try to shoot my best ... trying to shoot 64, it just kind of happens." Defending champion Kenny Perry, looking for his fourth major title in the last year, failed to take advantage of the prime scoring conditions. Playing his eighth tournament in nine weeks, Perry shot an even-par 70. Perrys score was actually one better than the 71 he posted in the opening round last year. Perry responded last June by shooting a combined 20 under over the final 54 holes to edge Fred Couples and Duffy Waldorf for the first major pro title of his lengthy career. The 53-year-old Kentuckian, the Tradition winner last month in the first senior major of the year, doubted Fox Chapel would be as generous this time around, but with wide open fairways and damp greens, it wasnt a fair fight. More than half the 81 players finished at even par or better. "Its going to take a lot of birdies this week with the conditions as they are right now," Durant said. "Youve just got to keep the hammer down." Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2018 Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale ' ' '

PHILADELPHIA -- After a terrible start, the Philadelphia Flyers are back on track. Emil Audero Jersey . Kimmo Timonen had a goal and two assists, Steve Mason made 32 saves and the Flyers beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 Tuesday night. Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds and Adam Hall also scored for Philadelphia, which is 4-0-1 in its last five games after a 4-10-1 start. "When you skate hard, create chances, good things will happen," Timonen said. "The team looks good right now. A lot of things are going well for us now and we have to keep it going." Clarke MacArthur and Kyle Turris each had a power-play goal for the Senators, who have lost two in a row. Timonen and Simmonds scored 23 seconds apart to snap a 2-all tie in the third period. First, Timonen got his first goal of the season on a nifty move to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead. He skated in from the left side and stuffed a backhander past Robin Lehner. Simmonds then scored on a turnaround slap shot from the slot, and Mason stoned Turris on a penalty shot with 5:06 left to preserve the two-goal cushion. "Confidence is a big thing," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "Our top players are producing, getting points and feeling good about themselves." Coming off a 2-0-1 road trip that included a 5-0 win at Ottawa, the Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before letting the Senators back in it. Turris had a chance to give Ottawa the lead with a wide-open net midway through the third, but defenceman Nicklas Grossmann made a double-skate save in the crease. The play was reviewed after the next stoppage and upheld. The puck hit Grossmanns left skate, bounced off his right skate and out. "I tried to get some guys out of the crease and I just felt the puck hit my left foot," Grossmann said. "It was more lucky than reflex." Timonen and Simmonds scored shortly after a long stop for the video review. Down 2-0 for the 11th time in 21 games, the Senators started their comeback in the second period when MacArthur fired a top-shelf shot from inside the left circle through a screen and over Masons shoulder. It stayed 2-1 until the third period when Turris scored 10 seconds into Ottawas fifth power-play chance. Turris backhanded a bouncing puck past Mason to tie it at 2. "We had an opportunity with 10 minutes left in the game and the score tied and we didnt respond well," Senators coach Paul MacLean said. The Flyers went ahead 1-0 after killing consecutive penalties that included a 12-second overlap. Giroux scored a power-play goal with 2:16 left in the first period off a perfect pass by Jakub Voracek, who faked a shot from the right circle and slid the puck across the ice. Giroux ripped it over defenceman Chris Phillips and past the sprawled Lehner. It was only the second goal of the season for Giroux, and the Flyers captain celebrated by kissing his stick on the bench. Couturier made it 2-0 early in the second by ending a 25-game goal drought. He took a shot from below the goal line that bounced off the post, hit Lehners right skate and went in. "It feels good. I feel 20 pounds lighter," Couturier said. "Ive had some quality chances lately and it feels good to finally get one in." NOTES: Voracek has six points (two goals, four assists) in his last five games. ... Giroux didnt have any goals in the first 15 games before getting two in the last five. ... Paul missed a pair of free throws that could have made it a three-point game with 13.8 seconds remaining, but he went to the ground to secure the rebound on Sebastian Telfairs miss at the other end and Griffin sank two from the stripe. It was 91-88 with 5.8 seconds left when LA fouled Nick Collison intentionally to prevent the Thunder from getting off a look from 3-point range. He hit two as well, then J.J. Redick restored the three-point margin with his pair with 2.8 seconds to play. Without any timeouts, Thunder center Steven Adams inbounded to Serge Ibaka near mid-court. Ibaka took two dribbles and lined up a deep triple, which missed short as the final buzzer sounded. Opening nights are tough. We won but we didnt play well, said Clippers head coach Doc Rivers. I didnt like our tempo. We have to play at a better pace. Griffin showed off an improved jumper on his way to 23 points and Paul tallied 22 with seven assists to edge out a Thunder unit that hardly resembled the team that took the Spurs to six games in the Western Conference finals after knocking the Clippers out of the playoffs a season ago. Reigning league MVP Kevin Durant had foot surgery and will miss the early portion of the season. The Thunder also traveled to Los Angles without guards Reggie Jackson, Jeremy Lamb and Anthony Morrow and rookie big man Mitch McGary. Russell Westbrook joined the walking wounded after leaving in the second quarter with a small fracture in his righht hand. Andrea Barzagli Jersey. Its unfortunate, the way it is right now but its the way it is, Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said. We have to figure out how to continue to improve. Instead of Durant and Westbrook, who averaged a combined 53.8 points per game last season, it was third-year forward Perry Jones totaling a career-high 32 points to keep things competitive. Ibaka added 17 points and Telfair scored 11 with seven helpers off the bench. The Thunder started 4-for-4 from the field, with four different players hitting shots to stake the visitors an early 8-0 lead. Griffin settled down the Clippers with a pair of free throws, but Ibaka scored eight straight Thunder points to keep them in front. Paul split a pair at the line later in the period to make it 22-20. Again the Thunder responded, this time with four straight Jones free throws. OKC led 28-22 after one. Jamal Crawford heated up early the second, scoring nine of LAs first 14 points in the period. His triple at 7:46 gave the Clippers their first lead. Jones scored five straight late in the period to put the Thunder back in front, but LA scored eight of the final 10 points in the half to take a 46-41 lead into halftime. Oklahoma City locked down defensively in the second half to stay in the game and give itself a chance late. Game Notes This was the first regular season game for new Clippers owner and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who purchased the team for a record $2 billion this offseason ... Crawford scored 16 points off the bench ... OKC won the rebounding margin, 47-33, but doubled LAs turnovers, 22-11. PHILADELPHIA -- Every year, Phillies starting pitchers have a hitting competition amongst themselves in which points are awarded for each players production at the plate. Tracy Porter Jersey . Cliff Lee, who said hes never won before, may be on his way to his first title after his latest performance. Lee had three hits, knocked in a career-high four runs and struck out a season-high 14 to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 12-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday. "I think I just took the lead," Lee said. Lee (14-6) stroked a two-run, bases-loaded single to cap off a six-run third inning and also hit his first career triple in the fifth. Chase Utley, who also drove in four runs, hit a long three-run homer in the third. "I prefer to hit and then trot the bases," Lee joked. "I try to do everything I can to help the team win and take it all serious." On the mound, Lee allowed two runs while scattering eight hits and walking none, at one point retiring 11 straight en route to winning his fourth consecutive decision. The left-handers 14 strikeouts marked his fourth double-digit strikeout game this year. "Just being ahead in the count, pounding the strike zone, I had a lot of two strike counts," Lee said. "Im really not trying to strike guys out in that situation to be honest with you. Im just continuing to try to throw strikes, and thats what happens when you throw strikes." Lee is 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA in his last six starts and 5-1 with a 2.29 lifetime ERA against Miami. Hes also a career .391 hitter against the Marlins. "He knows how to pitch, moves the ball in and out," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He got some runs early, so he could be more aggressive. ... He can hit (too). He give you good at-bats." Philadelphia has won six in a row over Miami. In his first major-league start, Sam Dyson (0-1) allowed seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out only one. He struggled to find control, with just 34 of 63 pitches going for strikes. "Up until today hes done a nice job in the bullpen," Redmond said. "Hell bounce back and be ready for his next opportunity." Utley got the Phillies started with an RBI groundout in the first. His 17th homer in the third gave them a four-run lead. "He had a little bit of a dry spell as far as home runs, but hes taking good swings," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "He crushed that ball. Its all good signs of what hes doing." Later in the frame, Cody Asche drove in a run with a single to right field. Giancarlo Stantons throw home was on the mark, but Marlins catcher Jeff Mathis couldnt handle it before being barrelled over by Domonic Brown. After Roger Bernadina drew a walk to load the bases, Lee singled to score two more and chase Dyson from the game. In all, 11 Phillies went to the plate in the inning. "He couldnt have been more happy about his hitting," Sandberg said of Lee. "He hustles to first base on bunts, he plays the game hard along with a quick tempo in his delivery, getting the pitch and throwing it. He really sets a good tone." Darin Ruf hit a two-run homer, his 14th of the season, in the sixth. He finished with two hits and three runs scored. The Marlins first run came in the fifth inning, when Adeiny Hechavarria singled to bring home Justin Ruggiano, who doubled. Ruggiano also had an RBI double in the sixth. Christian Yelich, Stanton and Mathis each struck out three times. The loss was Miamis ninth in 11 games. NOTES: In their last 29 games against the Marlins, the Phillies are 22-7. ... Lee passed the 200-innings threshold for the sixth straight season, the fourth-longest active streak in the majors. He also reached 200 strikeouts for the third consecutive year. ... Dyson became the 12th different starting pitcher used by the Marlins this season, tied for most in the National League with the Mets and Pirates. ... The Phillies on Monday announced Carlos Arroyo as the teams new Minor League Pitching Coordinator. ... Tuesday, Roy Halladay (3-4, 7.28) starts for the Phillies, while Brian Flynn (0-1, 10.13) goes for the Marlins. John Timu Jersey . TORONTO -- Just 13 weeks after walking away from his title, Georges St-Pierre is not forgotten. Felix Hernandez Jersey . But he is devalued. Once ranked among mixed martial arts pound-for-pound elite, the former UFC welterweight champion from Montreal is finding past glory doesnt last long. Fighters have short memories. So do fans. "I cant think backwards," said top 170-pound contender Johny (Bigg Rigg) Hendricks. "Ive got to think forwards. "Look at our division. Its a pretty stacked division. Very talented people in the top 10 and now that Georges has walked away, its time for one of us to make our own mark." Hendricks, who lost a controversial split decision to St-Pierre at UFC 167 last November, gets another shot at the welterweight crown March 15 when he faces veteran (Ruthless) Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 to decide St-Pierres successor. The 32-year-old St-Pierre vacated the title in December, saying he needed time away from the sport. St-Pierre (25-2) left a 12-fight winning streak and a string of UFC records behind him. But his last seven victories came by decision. And in a sport that celebrates sudden, violent finishes to fights, going the distance is not a plus. While some saw only St-Pierres ability to blunt his opponents strengths, others criticized the champion for not taking risks. Facing St-Pierre was death by a thousand cuts. Fighters like Hendricks and Lawler offer one-blow blunt force trauma. In MMA, youre only as good as your last fight. And St-Pierres last offering was gritty but unconvincing. Hendricks (15-2) told a media conference call Thursday that he sees Lawler (22-9 with one no contest) as a more dangerous opponent that St-Pierre. "Georges, you knew that he was going to throw a jab, a high kick, a low kick and try to take you down," he said. "Thats his game plan. "Robbie, if you make a mistake, weve seen it time and time again that he can knock you out. So you really have to make sure that you stay focused, cross all your Ts and dot all your Is, and make sure that you stay solid. And thats a lot more dangerous fight. "With guys who can knock people out, youre one punch away from losing. But those are also the more fun fights for me. You dont know whats going to happen. Carlos (The Natural Born Killer) Condit, one of the more thoughtful fighters in the UFC, said GSP leaves "some big shoes to fill in one respect." Then Condit (29-7), who lost a decision to St-Pierre at UFC 154, agreed with Hendricks on GSP. "I think people have wanted to see a little bit of excitement," said Condit, who dragged St-Pierre into rare deep waters with a head kick when they fought. "And I think Georges, from time to time, later in his career he had some spurts of excitement. But for the most part people kind of knew what was going to happen. "And now the division has been infused with some energy. Theres a lot of buzz -- you know, whats going to happen? Theres a lot of really really tough guys bottlenecking at the top spots of welterweight. "I think its an exciting time. More of the same from the Tank, countering multi-point efforts of Martin St. Reilly Smith Jersey . Louis and Derick Brassard for the Rangers, lineup news, Fantasy tips and more in Scott Cullen’s Statistically Speaking. HEROES Vladimir Tarasenko – This is becoming a regular honour for Tarasenko, who now has five goals and eight points in the past four games, including a highlight-reel goal and an assist, then the shootout winner, against the Rangers Monday. With 13 points in 11 games, Tarasenko is tied for 12th in scoring and his 4.45 shots on goal per game ranks fifth. He has emerged as a game-breaking talent on an otherwise solid, but not necessarily spectacular, Blues team that is now riding a five-game winning streak. Martin St. Louis – The Rangers winger was off to something of a slow start, with one goal in 10 games, but buried a pair against the Blues. It is worth tracking St. Louis’ production, though, as the 39-year-old is averaging 1.82 shots on goal per game, his lowest rate since 2001-2002. Derick Brassard – With Derek Stepan sidelined, Brassard has filled a void down the middle for the rangers, playing a career-high 18:23 per game, and he contributed a couple of assists against the Blues. His current nine points in 11 games (0.82 points per game) is the best rate of his career. ZEROES Ryan Reaves – The Blues’ enforcer had a heavyweight scrap with Rangers D Dylan McIlrath, but wasn’t on for a single shot attempt for, and 12 against, during 5-on-5 play. Jaden Schwartz – It might come as expected that an enforcer gets stuck on the wrong end of the possession game, especially on the road, but skilled winger Schwartz also had a rough go against the Blueshirts, with eight shot attempts for and 24 against (25.0%), notably getting dominated in a few head-to-head shifts against the Rangers’ line of LW Chris Kreider, C Kevin Hayes and RW Lee Stempniak. SHORT SHIFTS Rangers LW Chris Kreider scored a goal and had 11 shot attempts (5 SOG)…RW Rick Nash had an assist and 10 shot attempts (5 SOG). LINEUP NEED TO KNOW In the wake of injuries to Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein, as well as a suspension to John Moore, the Rangers inserted rookies Conor Allen and Dylan McIlrath onto their blueline. McIlrath only played 8:02, while sitting for nine minutes in the penalty box but, when he played, McIlrath was on the ice for 11 shot attempts for and 6 against (64.7%). D Matt Hunwick played 24:51 for the Rangers, his second straight game over 24 minutes on the depleted Rangers blueline. Rangers LW Mats Zuccarello missed the game with an undisclosed injury, so recently-waived LW Ryan Malone still had a spot in the lineup on the Blueshirts’ fourth line. FANTASY FOCUS Some players in action tonight that should have increasing Fantasy value: Nick Bjugstad – Though the towering Panthers’ centre has just one point in nine games, keep tabs on the the second-year pivot, who is generating 3.11 shots on goal per game and has strong possession stats, carrying 61.9% of the play at 5-on-5. Vincent Lecavalier – Injuries have limited him to only four games, but Lecavalier has returned to the Flyers’ lineup and while we’re looking at a very small sample, he does have four points and 3.25 shots on goal per game. Playing with Wayne Simmonds and R.J. Umberger last game, Lecavalier has an opportunity to produce offensively. Evgeny Kuznetsov – With points in the past three games, Kuznetsov has been bumped up to Washington’s second line, with Marcus Johansson and Troy Brouwer. After starting the year on the fourth line, this is a chance for Kuznetsov to live up to some of the preseason hype. Jason Zucker – Another player that started the year on the fourth line, Zucker was productive right out of the gate and has been moved up the depth chart, to skate with Mikko Koivu and Charlie Coyle. Playing more than 18 minutes in each of the last two games is a chance for Zucker to build on his strong start (five goals, seven points in 10 games). CLEVELAND -- Josh Tomlin couldnt recall the last time he won in the major leagues. Hes sure to remember his victory Tuesday night. Clevelands right-hander earned his first win since 2012 after he pitched into the seventh in the Indians 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. "This one, thats what I remember," he said after allowing one run and four hits in 6 2-3 innings. Tomlin hadnt won since July 5, 2012, when he defeated Tampa Bay. He had Tommy John surgery the following month and missed most of last year while recovering. Called up from Triple-A Columbus before the game, he admitted to feeling some nerves as he took the mound. "I definitely had some anxiety going before the game, but a good anxiety," Tomlin said. "It was the same anxiety Ive gotten in years past." Tomlin (1-0) struck out four and walked one. The right-hander took a two-hit shutout into the seventh before Chris Colabello homered. Tomlin left after a single and a foul out, and received an ovation from the crowd of 9,621. Tomlin threw 93 pitches. Tomlin learned to take nothing for granted as he went through the yearlong process following surgery. "Theres been a couple of guys around the league who had to have a second one before they got back out there," he said. "Thats always in the back of your mind. To be able to not have any reservations about the elbow was pretty special." Indians manager Terry Francona had some simple advice for Tomlin before the game. "I said, Hey man, enjoy the hell out of this," Francona said. Bryan Shaw pitched the ninth for his first save. Eduardo Escobars two-out double cut the lead to two, but pinch-hitter Josmil Pinto popped out. Samuel Deduno (0-2) allowed four runs in five innings in his first start of the season. Deduno replaced Mike Pelfrey in the Twins rotation. Pelfrey was ineffective in five starts beforre going on the disabled list with a groin injury. David Perron Jersey. Deduno had shoulder surgery in September and made seven relief appearances to begin this season. The Indians scored twice in the first on an RBI single by Michael Brantley and a fielding error by Colabello at first base. Yan Gomes RBI double and Nick Swishers run-scoring single in the second made it 4-0. Tomlin pitched with a sore right elbow for most of the 2012 season. His last start in the majors came on July 27, when he allowed eight runs in four innings in an 11-0 loss to the Twins. He made one relief appearance with the Indians last year, pitching two scoreless innings in September. Tomlin pitched well in spring training, but was sent to Columbus in the teams final cuts. He was 2-1 in five starts and had pitched 20 consecutive innings when he was recalled. Tomlin was called up after Carlos Carrasco went 0-3 in four starts. "Their guy was real good," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Give credit to him." Twins star Joe Mauer missed his second straight game because of lower back spasms. The six-time All-Star said following the game that he wont play Wednesday, but hopes to resume light baseball activities. Indians centre fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn was out of the lineup for the third straight game with a tight left hamstring, but is optimistic hell be able to play again in a couple of days. NOTES: Indians closer John Axford, who allowed game-winning home runs Sunday and Monday, was given the night off after pitching three straight days. Francona still has confidence in the right-hander. "Hes our closer," Francona said. "When you start running from guys as opposed to trying to get them back to where they need to be, that can be unsettling for a team." ... Mauer is a career .342 hitter with nine homers and 60 RBIs against Cleveland. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Donnie Jones Jersey . -- Peyton Manning wants to clear up a couple of things about his recent visit to Tuscaloosa, Ala., that raised eyebrows at NFL headquarters and the hackles of some Tennessee fans. The five-time MVP said hes always been driven to improve, a quality thats even more essential at age 38, and thats why he met with Alabama coach Nick Saban a couple of weeks ago. Saban shared defensive tips with Manning, who gave him pointers on the hurry-up offence that has befuddled the Crimson Tide. Saban said Denver offensive co-ordinator Adam Gase also visited his staff that week. NFL rules prohibit players and their coaches from meeting before the start of off-season workout programs, and thats why the NFL said it would look into the matter. Following the Broncos first organized workout Monday, however, Manning insisted that he and Gase didnt break any rules because they didnt meet with each other in Tuscaloosa. "Yeah, that didnt happen. We know what the rules were. Like I said, I was there on an independent project, and Adam was as well," Manning said. Saban has also said that Manning and Gase didnt meet with his coaches at the same time. Gase and Saban go way back: Gase got his start in coaching under Saban in the 1990s at Michigan State and followed him to LSU as a graduate assistant. As for fans from the quarterbacks alma mater who might be upset that he met with a rival coach from another SEC team, Manning said he still bleeds orange. "Obviously, I have been to Tennessee doing the same thing for the past 16 years. Ill do that, going to make it 17 years in a row, going back to Knoxville. Hopefully that covers me as far as being loyal to my university," Manning said. "Most of the other places, I go just one time. So Ive got 17 years at one place, so I think its pretty clear where my loyalties lie. "The projects I did this year were to help the Denver Broncos and to help me. That still is what my job is, to make myself a better player." The NFL rule prohibiting players and coaches from meeting before the start of the voluntary off-season workouts, the first two weeks of which are limited to strength and conditioning work and rehabilitation, were installed with the latest collective bargaining agreement a few years ago. Its designed to prevent players from feeling pressured to meet with coaching staffs during whats supposed to be their free time in the off-season. Players and coaches often get together in casual settings and NFL coaches often meet with college coaches. Mannings appetite for improvement is what led to his trip this off-season to Alabama. He also visited Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. "Theres different things that Ive done throughout my career in the off-season that Ive sought out someone to talk to, something to study to try to make myself a better quarterback," he said. "I believe in this league you either get better or you get worse -- you dont stay the same. I know that has gotten a lot of attention, but that is something Ive done throughout my career. "I certainly know the rules, but I know theres no rule that says a player cant get better -- at least I havent read that one. Thats what I was trying to do and I believe that is important, especially as you get older, in the off-season to try to seek out some things to try to make yourself a better player." Seeing the leagues only five-time MVP trying to improve impressed new defensive end DeMarcus Ware, who was lured to Denver by a three-year, $30 million offer from general manager John Elway and the chance to play with Manning, whos intent on getting back to the Super Bowl this season following the Broncos 43-8 loss to Seattle in February. "Sometimes it doesnt matter about accolades, it doesnt matter if you were MVP or not, its what can I do to really get better for next season?" Ware said. "Peytons one of those types of guys that puts in that effort, not just on the field but off the field, trying to figure out, What can I do to get better? Because he has a bad taste in his mouth from the last season and he doesnt want it to happen again." Carmelo Anthony had 29 points and 16 rebounds, and the Knicks held the Phoenix Suns without a field goal in overtime to win 98-96 on Monday night for their fifth straight victory. Anthony scored four of the Knicks six points in the extra session, and New York allowed only four free throws while forcing the Suns to miss all seven shots. The Knicks pulled it out after their 14-point lead turned into a five-point deficit late in regulation. "I think now as a team, I think mentally were a different type of team," Anthony said. "I think now were starting to believe that when we do get down, we still have a chance to win the basketball game." Raymond Felton added 19 points for the Knicks (15-22), who climbed into a tie with Brooklyn for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Goran Dragic had 28 points and eight rebounds for the Suns, who dropped their third straight. Leandro Barbosa scored 21 in his best game since rejoining his old team on a 10-day contract. But the Suns endured dreadful games from starters Gerald Green (2 of 16) and Channing Frye (3 of 12), ending their road trip with a 1-4 record. "For the fifth game in seven nights against a team thats playing well, I thought they gave a heck of an effort," Phoenix coach Jeff Hornacek said. "We didnt make shots. Dont know if its because its the end of the trip." Playing their fourth straight game without Tyson Chandler because of bronchitis, the Knicks beat a Western Conference team at home for the first time in seven chances and improved to 7-12 overall at Madison Square Garden. Despite their miserable start to the season, they can continue climbing the rest of January, as they open an eight-game homestand on Friday. "The game is not over until the clock hits zero," Knicks forward Kenyon Martin said. "We lost some close games early on, so (were) just learning from the mistakes that we made early, just trying to build on what weve been doing." The Suns ran off nine straight points midway through the fourth quarter to open an 88-83 lead on Barbosas jumper with 4:50 remaining. The Knicks recovered to regain the lead on Feltons 3-pointer from the corner with 53 seconds to play, and after Gerald Green and Anthony traded misses, the Suns had one final chance. Patrick Robinson Jersey. Though Martin appeared to have his hand on some of the ball, a foul was called and Barbosa sank both free throws with 1.2 seconds left. J.R. Smith, who beat the Suns on a jumper at the buzzer last season, was long on a chance to do it again. Martin found Anthony for a basket to open the scoring in overtime, then dunked a missed shot to make it 96-92. The Knicks could only manage Anthonys turnaround jumper with 2:41 remaining from there, but it didnt matter because the Suns couldnt get anything going. Phoenix compounded its problems when Frye made the second of two free throws with 2.5 seconds left, leaving the Suns down 98-96 without a timeout left and unable to get another possession. With Eric Bledsoe lost to right knee surgery, the Suns just didnt have enough to support Dragic, who had been starting alongside him. "Its a little bit harder now with Eric out. Its much easier when youre playing together and you have two ballhandlers. But it is what it is and I have to keep my head up," Dragic said. The Knicks built a big early lead in the first half, when the highlight was when the Suns Markief Morris was ejected for picking up his second technical foul for shoving Smith after he was fouled. Because Morris was scheduled to shoot, the Knicks were allowed to pick someone off the Phoenix bench to do it. Coach Mike Woodson went all the way across midcourt to tab Slava Kravtsov, a second-year Ukranian centre who had attempted just six free throws all year, making three. With fans howling, Kravtsov went 1 for 2. But the Suns opened the third quarter with an 11-2 spurt to tie it at 54. The Knicks quickly regrouped and rebuilt a double-digit lead, and were ahead 75-68 heading to the fourth. Barbosa, the Sixth Man of the Year in Phoenix in 2007 who just returned to the NBA last week, scored eight straight Phoenix points to trim it to 78-76. The Suns eventually pulled ahead when Barbosa blew by his defender on consecutive trips for layups, one of them while getting fouled, to make it 84-83 with 5:51 to play. NOTES: Chandler worked out before the game and said he hopes to play Tuesday in Charlotte so he can get some minutes before facing Indiana centre Roy Hibbert on Thursday. ... The extra time off between the first and second rounds of the playoffs might just give some Montreal Canadiens players time to heal. Pau Lopez Jersey . After sweeping the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, the Habs now have over a week to rest up before their second round series against either the Boston Bruins or Detroit Red Wings. The added time could be good news for forward Alex Galchenyuk, who has been sidelined since April 9 with a knee injury. Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien thinks that the 20-year-old may be ready at some point in the second round. "Theres a chance hell play in the second round, I hope," Therrien told reporters after Fridays morning skate in Brossard, Que. "Not quite sure yet." Galchenyuk appeared in 65 games with the Habs this season, missing further time in January and February with a broken hand. Despite a first round exit at the hands of the Ottawa Senators in the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Galchenyuk was effective in his rookie playoff campaign, tallying a goal and two assists in five games. ANDREWS -- The Royal & Ancient Golf Club will vote in September on whether to have women as members for the first time in its 260-year history. A statement from the club Wednesday said all committees are "strongly in favour of the rule change and are asking members to support it." The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews has about 2,400 members from around the world and dates to 1754. The clubhouse is among the most famous buildings in golf, overlooking the Old Course at St. Andrews. Pressure has been building in recent years on the R&A to change its men-only policy, especially after Augusta National Golf Club announced in August 2012 that it was inviting two women to join -- former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina financier Darla Moore. "This is welcome news from the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and I urge its members to follow their committees recommendations and vote yes for women members," British sports minister Helen Grant said in a statement. It was unclear how a favourable vote would affect whether golf clubs that host the Open would change their policies. The next Open at a male-only club is in 2016 at Royal Troon. The R&A governs golf everywhere in the world except for the United States and Mexico. It also organizes the British Open and other championships. With serious allegations of corruption monopolizing the news cycle leading into the World Cup, the last thing FIFA needed following the opening match of Brazil 2014 was for the global headlines to be dominated by the awarding of a mystery penalty which would alter the course of the contest. Keenan Allen Jersey . Too bad the refs vanishing spray, which was first introduced in tournament play at 2011s Copa América, is only effective on the grass. We were all left wondering when the football would finally be the focus. All those questions were answered by the Dutch dominance of the World Cup holders yesterday. In the second half alone, Spain conceded twice as many goals as they did through seven matches en route to a first World Cup triumph in South Africa four-years ago. Then for an encore, Chile and Australia played out a highly spirited encounter. Jorge Sampaolis team were very convincing, and certainly would have won over many new admirers, that one of South Americas less glamorous nations, would be the one which punches well above its weight class at Brazil 2014. With Groups C and D taking to the pitch Day 3 provides us with the only quadruple header of the tournament. Where armchair enthusiasts the world over are treated to the prospect of four matches over the course of 11 hours. Todays headliner without question is the rumble in the jungle, as the aptly named Arena da Amazonia plays host to Italy v England. With four World Cup triumphs already to their name, a record which is only bettered by Brazils five, if Italy is the preening peacock of European football, then England is its Hippopotamus. Rare, if ever, has the land of St. George got their heads above the waterline during World Cups. Quite coincidentally the last time that happened was at Italia 90, which was also the last time the two nations met at a World Cup. Courtesy of Toto Schillacis late penalty, Italy prevailed 2-1 in the third-place playoff match. Through the entire history of World Cup quite remarkably, that meeting represents the only time the two nations have met at the tournament proper. They have though met in qualifying twice. The most recent time was for France 1998. Zolas superb strike at Wembley in February 1997 was the difference maker. The return fixture in Rome saw England claim a famous scoreless draw and with it top spot in the group. The iconic image of England captain Paul Inces head swathed in a bloodied bandage typified Englands approach on the day. One which had the current England manager Roy Hodgson assisting Glen Hoddle, officially in the role of interpreter. Hodgson was Inter Milans head coach at the time. When the World Cup Draw took place in Zurich early last December Manaus was chosen as the venue. The Arena da Amazonia, built at a cost of $300M has been in the news for all the wrong reasons as four workers have died during its construction. Brazilian football legend come politician Romario has been outspoken in his criticism. Pictures emerging on Thursday of a sub-standard surface the latest setback for a stadium which will host four group stage games. With Buffon set to miss out due to an ankle injury which occurred in training yesterday, combined with Montolivo fracturing a leg May 31st, the psychological edge certainly goes to England. Not that Prandellis team will need extra motivation this evening - but the only European nation to retain a World Cup [1934, 1938] is still smarting from its inability to emerge from a weak group in South Africa. A tournament they went into as defending champions. With soaring heat and intense humidity factoring, for England to stand any chance they will have to overcome the Achilles heel which has dogged them through the ages. Chasing shadows in the pursuit of a ball they surrender more casually than Andrea Pirlo completes successful passes. Based on statistical evidence and World Cup history, losing your first group stage game almost guarantees elimination. Although Prandelli nor Hodgson would admit it, if the game finishes as it did in Rome back in fall 1997 neither of them will be too upset. NFC EASTDallas Cowboys (W 28-14 v Cincinnati)Comfortably the Cowboys most impressive of their four straight wins. The Bengals trailed 28-0 until claiming a pair of garbage time scores. They had no answer for a dominant Dallas offence, particularly Ezekiel Elliott, who picked up two TDs while running for 134 yards on only 15 carries. In doing so, he became the first Cowboys rookie with three consecutive 100-yard rushing games. Grade: A Highlights of the Cincinnati Bengals clash with the Dallas Cowboys in week five of the NFL Washington Redskins (W 16-10 @ Baltimore)The Redskins have also put together a nice little run of three straight wins after starting the season 0-2. The latest relied on an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown by Jamison Crowder and an uncharacteristically strong performance by their defence, who came into the contest ranked 29th in the league. Grade: B+ Highlights of the Washington Redskins clash with the Baltimore Ravens in week five of the NFL Philadelphia Eagles (L 23-24 @ Detroit)The honeymoon period is over. Well, not quite. The Eagles did more than enough to win the game, and rookie QB, Carson Wentz, certainly cant be blamed despite his game-ending interception. Lets remember, this team were supposed to be nowhere near a 4-1 mark after five games. Grade: CNew York Giants (L 16-23 @ Green Bay)The Giants are sinking, having lost their third straight match. But the blame cant be placed at the feet of Odell Beckham Jr this week, as he notched his first touchdown of the season to bring the Giants back into the game late in the fourth quarter. Grade: D Pick Six: Week Five Neil Reynolds takes a look at the biggest talking points from week five NFC NORTHMinnesota Vikings (W 31-13 v Houston)The only undefeated team left in football. Thats enough to earn them an A+ right there, but add to that the fact that their dominant defence is still yet to allow more than 16 points in a game this season, and their offence is rolling along with back-up QB and RBs in tow. They didnt just beat a decent Houston Texans team, they embarrassed them. Grade: A+ Highlights of the Houston Texans clash with the Minnesota Vikings in week five of the NFL Detroit Lions (W 24-23 v Philadelphia)Detroit snapped a three-game losing skid with a hard-fought win over a previously undefeated Philadelphia. The Lions scored on all three of their possessions in the first half, building a 21-7 lead late in the second quarter, but stalled badly after the break, relying on an interception of Wentz - his first in the NFL - to secure a narrow win late on. Grade: B Highlights of the Philadelphia Eagles clash against the Detroit Lions in week five of the NFL Green Bay Packers (W 23-26 v New York Giants)This Packers team are still a tad unconvincing, despite moving to 3-1 on the season with a good win over the Giants late on Sunday night. Aaron Rodgers play was particularly off colour for much of the contest, with two first-half picks, and a completion percentage that sat below 50 for much of the game. Still, they did enough to get the W. Grade: B- Highlights of the New York Giants clash with the New York Giants in week five of the NFL Chicago Bears (L 23-29 @ Indianapolis)You cant fault the efforts of Brian Hoyer (33 of 43 passing, 397 yards, 2 TDs) and Jordan Howard (118 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving, 1TD), but the Bears somehow still contrived to lose their fourth game on the year. Grade: DNFC SOUTHAtlanta Falcons (W 23-16 @ Denver)How do you follow up a 300-yard receiving game, Julio Jones? Oh, with just 29 yards on two catches. In fairness, Denvers No Fly Zone defence was always likely to provide a stern follow-up, and it mattered little as Atlantas D produced a dominant display of its own, sacking rookie Broncos QB, Paxton Lynch, six times. Grade: A- Highlights of the Atlanta Falcons clash against Denver Broncos in week five of the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers (W 17-14 @ Carolina)The Buccaneers won this but they could, and possibly should have lost it. Erratic decisions from quarterback Jameis Winston put the team under pressure, and kicker Roberto Aguayo missed two field goals before scoring a 38-yard attempt to clinch victory. Fortunately for Tampa, the defence did deliver, forcing four turnovers including an end zone interception. Grade: C+Carolina Panthers (L 17-14 v Tampa Bay)Sorely missing Cam Newtons mobility and ingenuity, the Panthers created winning opportunities but struggled to maintain drives under back-up Derek Anderson. Carolina led the game in rushing and receiving yards despite ten minutes less on the field, but four costly interceptions was enough to hand this one to their divisional rivals. Grade: D-New Orleans Saints (Bye week)NFC WESTArizona Cardinals (W 33-21 @ San Francisco)Drew Stanton threw two touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald in his first start for two years, as the Cardinals survived a week without injured starter Carson Palmer. Stanton wasnt exactly exemplary, only completing 11 of 27 for 124 yards, but Arizona didnt turn the ball over, and that was enough to edge out the 49ers. Grade: B Highlights of the Arizona Cardinals clash with the San Francisco 49ers in week five of the NFL Loos Angeles Rams (L 19-30 v Buffalo)The Rams suffered their first defeat in Los Angeles, and their first since their Week One 28-0 stuffing in San Francisco - which seems a long time ago now. Grade: B+ Highlights of the Buffalo Bills clash with the Los Angeles Rams in week five of the NFL New York Jets (L 13-31 @ Pittsburgh)The Jets, meanwhile, have suffered three consecutive defeats since besting the Billis, of all teams, in Week Two. They were utterly blown apart by Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday - the veteran QB torching their defence for 380 yards and four touchdowns. Grade: D-Miami Dolphins (L 17-30 v Tennessee)The Dolphins have only an overtime victory over the winless Cleveland Browns to show from their season so far, and with a performance like Sundays its easy to see why. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was particularly poor, with just 191 yards passing and two interceptions. Grade: EAFC NORTHPittsburgh Steelers (W 31-13 v New York Jets)What a stunner from Sammie Coates! Sure, it was Big Ben who got him the ball, but weve already mentioned him (see Jets grade above), and Coates deserves some column inches too. Grade: A Highlights from the Pittsburgh Steelers clash against the New York Jets in week five of the NFL Baltimore Ravens (L 10-16 v Washington)Offensive co-ordinator, Marc Trestman, has paid with his job after the Ravens lost a second in a row at home, and his offence scored only three points in the contest following a touchdown on their opening possession. On the plus side though Ravens fans, the last time your team made an offensive co-ordinator change mid-season - replacing Cam Cameron with Jim Caldwell - you ended up winning the Super Bowl. Grade: C-Cleveland Browns (L 13-33 v New England)A gutsy effort by an utterly battered and broken Browns squad, that was forced to field its fifth quarterback in five games! Rookie Cody Kessler was knocked out in the first half with rib and chest injuries, seeing quarterback-turned-wide receiver Terrelle Pryor take a few snaps and veteran Charlie Whitehurst come in. The Browns have lost seven straight matches stretching back to last season, and 14 of their last 15. Grade: DCincinnati Bengals (L 14-28 @ Dallas)What has happened to the Bengals team that roared to an 8-0 start last year? In contrast, theyve now dropped three of their first five games in 2016 - the latest courtesy of Dallas dream rookie duo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Grade: D-AFC SOUTHTennessee Titans (W 30-17 @ Miami)It was a return to form for second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota, who had previously struggled to make an impact in the early part of the season. Mariota threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Titans earned their first road victory of the season. Highlights of the Tennessee Titans clash with the Miami Dolphins in week five of the NFL Running back DeMarco Murray had over 100 yards for the second time this season, and head coach Mike Mularkey will be hoping this is the turn in Tennessees fortunes. Grade: B+Indianapolis Colts (W 29-23 v Chicago)Coming off a London loss with no bye week was a potential recipe for disaster but Andrew Luck and the Colts did enough against an ailing Bears team. Indianapolis used a no-huddle offence from the beginning which helped the attack, but the defence failed to register a sack while Luck was hit five times. Still plenty of room for improvement. Grade: C Highlights of the Chicago Bears clash with the Indianapolis Colts in week five of the NFL Houston Texans (L 13-31 @ Minnesota)Brock Osweiler really struggled against the Vikings defence, completing just 19 throws from 42 attempts and had only seven yards before Minnesota went 21-0 ahead. Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus impressed once again, but the Texans will have to improve on offence if they want to make the post season again this year. Grade: DJacksonville Jaguars (Bye week)AFC WESTOakland Raiders (W 34-31 v San Diego)Michael Crabtree has done much of the leg work in the early weeks for this talented Raiders receiving corp, and though he again hauled in a touchdown, it was Amari Cooper who finally broke out in 2016, tallying 138 yards and a TD on six receptions. Oakland move to 4-1. Grade: B+ Highlights of the San Diego Chargers clash with the Oakland Raiders in week five of the NFL Denver Broncos (L 16-23 v Atlanta)The Broncos suffered their first loss of the season to the red-hot Atlanta Falcons offence. It was RB duo Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman - not Julio Jones - who they couldnt contain, though. The pair picked up 286 all-purpose yards and two TDs, while Denvers rookie QB, Paxton Lynch, struggled on his NFL debut. Grade: C-San Diego Chargers (L 31-34 @ Oakland)The Chargers find another new way to lose. San Diego built an eight-point second-half lead, lost it in a blink of an eye, but then had the chance to tie the game with a field goal with two minutes remaining only for the snap to slip through the hands of rookie holder, Drew Kaser. Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork. Rafinha Brazil Jersey .com) - FC Barcelona will not be allowed to sign any players in 2015 after the clubs appeal against a transfer ban was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday. The Catalan side was handed a 14-month ban in April after being found guilty of breaching FIFAs rules governing the transfer of players under the age of 18. Barcelona also had an appeal rejected in August, but the pending appeal allowed the club to complete the signing of striker Luis Suarez from Liverpool for $128 million. The panel found in particular that FC Barcelona had breached the rules regarding the protection of minors and the registration of minors attending football academies, the court said in a statement. Accordingly, the FIFA decision is confirmed in full and the sanction remains in force. In view of the need to issue a decision before the opening of the next transfer window, the panel has issued its decision without the grounds. The full arbitral award, with the reasons for the panels decision, will be issued as soon as possible. The errors that the club might have committed, and which have been recognized and argued before the corresponding authorities, are, in all cases, of an administrative nature and to a large extent have been caused by the existing conflict between the FIFA regulations and Spanish legislation, along with the clubs conviction that it was acting correctly, the club said in a statement. Therefore, FC Barcelona considers the sanction to be completely disproportionate as it supposes an excessive punishment for the club, when considering its trajectory and the circumstances of this specific case. Barcelona went on a spending spree in the summer while the suspension was on hold during the appeals process, splashing out more than 117.5 million pounds on Suarez, forward Ivan Rakitic, goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, defender Thomas Vermaelen, goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, defender Jeremy Mathieu and midfielder Alen Halilovic. All three teed off in windy conditions and finished in chilly temperatures just before dark.I cant feel my fingers right now, Korda said. She might be in for more of the same Thursday morning, with temperatures expected to be the mid- to late-30s for the early tee times.Twenty players failed to complete the opening round at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club, which boasts eight tribute holes from famed courses around the world. They will finish up beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, just before Korda, Lewis and Munoz tee off in the second round.Only 26 of 120 players were under par when play was halted.American Austin Ernst and Ha Na Jang of South Korea finished at 5 under, one stroke ahead of New Zealands Lydia Ko and South Koreas Na Yeon Choi. Nineteen-year-old American Lexi Thompson and Mi Jung Hur of South Korea were 3 under.Top-ranked Inbee Park was 1 under, one shot ahead of reigning U.S. Womens Open champion Michelle Wie. Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods, was 4 over through 17 holes.Ernst was maybe the most surprising name on the leaderboard. She hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation and made just about every putt inside of 10 feet.Ive had rounds in the past where youve hit it close and then you cant get annything to go in, Ernst said. Douglas Costa Brazil Jersey. . But today everything was going in so I was really confident with everything.Korda, Lewis and Munoz were feeling it, too.Korda straightened out an errant driver on the front nine and birdied six of her final 13 holes. Considering shes won two of the last three LPGA season openers — in Australia in 2012 and in the Bahamas last year — starting fast is nothing new.I just feel like Im refreshed and ready to go, she said. I try and bring the mentality with me all the time, every time I try to play, but for some reason it just shines brighter the first event of the season. Honestly, I dont know what it is about it. Im just happy to be back. Its so much fun. Its like the first day of school; youre always happy to be back the first week of school.Lewis birdied five of her final six holes, the last coming on an uphill, 6-footer just after the horn blew.I stayed patient out there, Lewis said. Finally, on the back nine, I got more comfortable with being back playing again and just started hitting golf shots. It was a good day. I almost wish we didnt have darkness and I could keep going since I finally got into a rhythm there. Munoz was solid throughout, hitting 17 of 18 greens in regulation, and closed with consecutive birdies to make it a three-way tie at the top. The only green she missed was at the par-4 13th, her approach shot coming up just a few feet short and rolling off the front.I gave myself a lot of opportunities and I made them, too, she said. If I didnt hit a really good shot, I made a couple nice 5-, 6-footers for par, so that was nice. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Eddie Johnson scored in the 14th minute to lift the Seattle Sounders to a 1-0 win against the Columbus Crew on Saturday night despite playing down a man for 83 minutes. DaNorris Searcy Jersey . "One of our team goals is defending top to bottom and getting something on the road," he said. "If we can defend good for 90 minutes-plus we know one goal can get us a victory on the road." Johnson gave Seattle (12-8-4) the lead on a header off a 35-yard free kick by Mauro Rosales for his seventh goal. Morales lofted a service to Johnson between two defenders in the middle of the box in a match delayed 94 minutes at the start because of inclement weather. "One of my strengths is being dangerous in the box," Johnson said. "Mauro Rosales and I have a good relationship. Four of the seven goals I have, I think, he assisted." Seattle has not lost the last 44 times (36-0-8) it has scored first. Meanwhile the Crew fell to 0-10-3 this season when yielding the opening goal. The Sounders Leonardo Gonzales was sent off in the 7th minute when, as the last defender, he pulled down Ryan Finley 40 yards from goal. "Technically it was a red card on Leo but I thought Finley was barely touched and he fell over," Seattle coach Sigi Schmid said. The Crew (8-13-5) had a header by Konrad Warzycha hit the crossbar in the 79th minute and moments later Seattles Michael Gspurning made a stretching stop of Dominic Oduros breakaway. "These chances we need to score. Simple as that," Crew coach Robert Warzycha said. Johnson is expected to return to Crew Stadium on Sept. 10 with the U.S. national team in its World Cup qualifier against Mexico. Seattle teammates Clint Dempsey and Brad Evans are also on the roster but Evans left the match in the 19th minute with a pulled calf muscle and said a decision on whether he will join the U.S. for training in Miami on Sunday in preparation for Fridays qualifier at Costa Rica has not been made. Johnson was removed in the 61st minute with tightness in his hamstrings but said he will be OK. "It was smart of the coach to bring me out," he said. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia will have surgery on his left shoulder this week and is expected to miss the rest of the season. http://www.thetitansfansclub.com/Black-Friday-Austin-Johnson-Jersey/ . Gough finished in fourth, 0.433 seconds behind American Erin Hamlin, who took the bronze medal at the Sanki Sliding Center in Rzhanaya Polyana.Leading up to SportsCentres Year In Review on Christmas Eve, TSN and TSN.ca look back at each of the Top 10 stories of 2013. Today, we look back at one of the biggest comebacks - or collapses - in National Hockey League history: Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. When Nazem Kadri scored at the 5:29 mark of the third period to increase the Toronto Maple Leafs Game 7 lead over the Boston Bruins to 4-1, it sent a city and long-suffering fan base into rapture. The area outside of the Air Canada Centre - dubbed Maple Leafs Square - was packed with fans that were celebrating not only participating in their first playoff series in nine years, but possibly the first step towards breaking a Stanley Cup drought that has plagued them since 1967. And there was a lot of reason for celebration. After trailing in the series 3-1, the Leafs fought back against elimination to capture a pair of 2-1 victories to force the deciding Game 7. Head coach Randy Carlyle, who took over from the fired Ron Wilson late in the previous season, was responsible for turning the team around and propelling them into their first playoff series since 2004. After many close (and not-so-close) misses, the team was finally able to hold things together - albeit in a lockout shortened season - to finish the job and qualify for the postseason. While most pre-season predictions had the Leafs once again on the outside looking in, solid campaigns from players like Phil Kessel, Kadri, James van Riemsdyk and James Reimer helped the team to overcome those odds. Karl Klug Jersey. Unfortunately for Leafs Nation, the highly-improbable happened with 11 minutes left in regulation and one foot firmly planted in the second round. With dejected Boston fans slowly filing out of TD Garden, Bruins forward Nathan Horton cut the lead to two at the 9:18 mark of the third. Then came Milan Lucics goal to pull them within one. And with with less than two minutes left and goaltender Tuukka Rask on the bench for an extra attacker, Patrice Bergeron tied it up to send the game to an unlikely extra frame. Shocked yet? The best (or worst, if youre a Leaf fan) was yet to come. In overtime, the suddenly struggling Maple Leafs found themselves pinned in their own end when Bergeron intercepted a clearing attempt and fired the puck past a sprawling Reimer to complete the comeback and send TD Garden into a wild celebration. The Bruins became the first team in NHL history to win a Game 7 after trailing by three goals in the third period. And it came at the expense of a Leafs team that - just a half-hour earlier - was already printing up tickets for Round 2. It was a year of progress for a Maple Leafs franchise that had been mired in the non-playoff wilderness for almost a decade. But on this night, all those fans outside the Air Canada Centre (not to mention watching at home) were left with was the image of Reimer lying face down in the crease with the puck just out of his reach.
